Make Colorful Paper Bag Owl Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"Are you as excited to make this as I am?"

Step 1: Paint your paper bag.

    MESSY! Extra cleanup
Lay out newspaper to keep your area clean. Put your paper lunch bag on the newspaper. Squeeze a little bit of paint onto the newspaper. Use the large pompom to paint the front of the paper bag. You might need to paint it two times to make the color strong. Let the bag dry while you go to the next step.

Step 2: Cut out owl parts using the template.

    May need grown-up help
Choose different colors of construction paper for your owl's beak, eyes, and wings. Print the owl craft template. Use the template to cut out all the owl pieces from your chosen construction paper.

Step 3: Make the owl's eyes and add details.

Glue the small white circles onto the bigger colored circles to make the owl's eyes. Use the black Sharpie marker to draw more details on all the pieces you cut out.

Step 4: Glue the owl's parts onto the bag.

Now that your painted bag is dry, use the glue stick to attach the cut-out owl pieces (eyes, beak, wings) onto the bottom part of the paper lunch bag. Use your black Sharpie marker again to draw designs on the owl's chest and anywhere else you want to add more details.

Step 5: Stuff the bag with newspaper.

Crumple up some pieces of newspaper. Open the top of your paper lunch bag and stuff it with the crumpled newspaper. Fill the bag about halfway.

Step 6: Make the owl's ears and finish details.

    May need grown-up help
Fold the top of the paper bag over about one inch, then fold it again. Ask an adult to help you use the stapler to secure the folded top on each side of the bag. Then, gently shape the top of the stuffed paper bag to make the owl's ears. You can pinch and fold the paper as you like. You might ask an adult to add another staple if you need to hold the shape. Once the owl's shape is ready, use the black Sharpie marker to add details to the owl's ears.
