    Make Digger Craft for Kids

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Cut the paper plate into parts.

    May need grown-up help
First, cut the plate in half from top to bottom. Then, cut the right side into three strips that are the same size. For the left side, cut off about one inch from the top and about two inches from the bottom. The big piece in the middle will be the cab (the body) of your digger. The small piece at the bottom will be the bucket of your digger.

Step 2: Paint your digger parts.

    May need grown-up help
Put newspaper on your table to keep it clean. Pinch a pompom with a clothespin to make a paintbrush. Lay all the paper plate pieces on the newspaper with the dull side facing up. Now, paint your pieces! You can use yellow for the body and arms, and black for the bucket. If you don't want to paint, you can use crayons or markers instead.

Step 3: Cut out and glue on paper parts.

    May need grown-up help
While your paint dries, use the digger template to cut out the wheels and a window. You can use black paper for the outside of the wheels and gray paper for the inside. Once the paint is dry, glue these paper pieces onto your digger. Use your markers to add fun details, like lights or doors!

Step 4: Connect the moving parts.

Use your hole punch to make holes. Make one hole at each end of the digger's arms, one hole on the bucket, and one hole on the front of the digger's body. Use the metal brads to connect the pieces together, just like in the picture. Push the brad through the holes, then spread the two metal ends apart on the back to keep it in place. Now your digger's arm can move!
