Make Easy Paper Sugar Skull Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"Are you as excited to make this as I am?"

Step 1: Cut out the skull shape.

First, download and print the skull craft template. If you print it directly onto heavy white cardstock, fold it in half and cut out the skull. Save the eye and nose templates for later. If you are using regular white paper, cut out the skull template and trace it onto a piece of white paper folded in half, making sure the flat edge is on the fold. Then cut out the skull. Keep the eye and nose parts of the template for later. If you are a young child, ask an adult to help you cut out the skull shape.

Step 2: Add paint splotches to one side of the skull.

Choose your favorite paint colors. You can use at least two colors, or more if you like. Place small splotches of paint on one side of the skull. Make sure the dots are not too big.

Step 3: Fold and squish the paint.

Fold the paper skull back in half, then gently press down on it. Slowly open the skull to see your colorful design. If you want more color or a different look, add more paint dots and fold it again. Once you like how it looks, set it aside to let the paint dry completely.

Step 4: Cut out the eyes and nose from black paper.

Take the black construction paper. Use the template you saved from Step 1 to cut out the shapes for the eye holes and the nose. You can also draw the eye holes and nose directly onto the skull with a black marker or paint if you prefer.

Step 5: Glue the eyes and nose onto the skull.

Once the paint on your skull is dry, use your glue stick to attach the eye holes in their places. Then, glue the nose shape (which looks like an upside-down heart) onto the skull as well.

Step 6: Add details to your sugar skull.

Now for the fun part! Use your black Sharpie marker to draw a mouth on your sugar skull. Then, add any other designs or details you like. Try to make the designs the same on both sides of the skull to keep it symmetrical.
