About This Project

A 20–40 minutes craft for ages 3–7, using supplies you likely already have — Sharpie Markers, Scissors, and Disposable Plates.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Make Fingerprint Bugs in the Grass

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Fold green paper and draw lines

    May need grown-up help
Take your green paper and fold it in half. Use your black marker to draw lines on the bottom half of the folded paper. Make the lines go up and down, about one inch apart.

    Step 2: Make fingerprint bugs

    May need grown-up help
Put small drops of paint on your paper plate. Dip your fingers and thumb into the paint to make bug shapes on the blue paper. Don't use too much paint. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 3: Add details to your bugs

Once the paint is dry, use your black marker to draw eyes, legs, or other fun details on your fingerprint bugs.

    Step 4: Cut the grass

Now it's time to cut the grass! Use your scissors to cut along the lines you drew on the green paper. Remember to stop cutting when you reach the fold. This is a great project to practice your cutting, so don't worry if it's not perfect! After cutting, fold the paper again so your bugs can hide behind the grass.

Step 5: Glue the grass and make a sun

Use your glue stick to put glue on the bottom half of the blue paper. Stick the green grass paper onto the blue paper. Now, take your yellow and orange paper scraps and cut out a sun shape.

    Step 6: Add fluffy clouds

Gently pull apart your cotton balls to make them look fluffy like clouds. Use your Elmer's glue to stick the fluffy cotton clouds onto your blue sky.
