About This Project

A 10–20 minutes craft for ages 6–12, using supplies you likely already have — Elastic Stretch Cord, Pony Beads, and Buttons.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Make Let's Be-ad Friends - Bead and Button Friendship Bracelets

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Choosing the right buttons

This project calls for shank buttons. Shank buttons have a loop on the back to attach the button. They do not have traditional buton holes. shank buttons work well in beading projects because they lay flatter than regular buttons without shredding your beading elastic

    Step 2: Prevent beading disaster

Have you ever strung on a bunch of beads, only to find the'd all fallen off the other end of your beading string? Here's a simple trip to avoid that tragedy in the future. Tie a spare bead to the end of your string using a simple half knot. Don't tie the knot too tightly. You'll want to take it out again when you're done.

    Step 3: Add your beads

    May need grown-up help
Lay out a pattern that you love, then string the beads one at a time onto the beading cord. We used the following patterns in our panda bracelets: Pink, orange, and yellow: - pink, yellow, pink, orange, pink, dark pink, pink, pink, panda button - pink, pink, dark pink, pink, orange, pink, yellow, pink Note that we used two light pink beads next to the panda button. With the width of the panda button, having two pink beads next to it makes sure that we can see the pretty dark pink beads all the time. Our green, blue, and purple variant is similar: * pink, green, pink, blue, pink, purple, pink, pink, panda button * pink, pink, purple, pink, blue, pink, green, pink
