Make Paper Mouse Craft (with a Sweater Vest)

    Your creative buddy says:
"Let's stick together and make this one!"

Step 1: Cut the mouse's body and sweater vest base.

Get a gray piece of construction paper. Cut a tall triangle from it. Make the triangle as tall and wide as you can on the paper. Now, get another piece of construction paper in any color you like. Cut a strip about 6 inches wide from this paper. This will be the bottom part of your mouse's sweater vest.

Step 2: Weave the sweater vest.

Take the 6-inch wide strip of paper you cut for the sweater vest. Cut thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide, starting from the top. Stop cutting about 1/4 inch from the bottom edge. Next, cut more strips of paper, about 1/2 inch wide, in colors you like. Make sure these strips are long enough to go all the way across the sweater vest. Weave these new strips through the cuts you made in the sweater vest base until the whole space is filled. When you reach the top, glue one last strip across. Then, cut a curved shape for the top of the sweater vest. Trim any extra paper from the sides of the sweater vest and glue down the ends of the woven strips to keep them in place.

Step 4: Assemble the mouse's body.

Use your glue stick to attach the sweater vest onto the mouse's body. Glue the feet, arms, and tail in their places. Fold the feet up a little. Curl the tail using the glue stick or your finger.

Step 5: Give your mouse a face.

Fold down the top point of the gray triangle to make the mouse's face. Glue the ears in place. Cut three tiny strips of black paper and glue them onto the tip of the mouse's nose to make whiskers. For the nose, you can glue on a small pink pompom or cut a small pink circle from paper and glue it in place. Then, put the googly eyes on your mouse's face.

Step 6: Add a fun prop for your mouse to hold.

    SHARP! Grown-up required
Your mouse is ready! Now, give your mouse something fun to hold. You can use the printable template for a prop, or you can draw and cut out your own. Cut out your chosen prop and decorate it. If you choose the cheese wedge, use a hole punch to make holes in the cheese. Glue the prop into your mouse's hands with the glue stick. You might want to place the arms higher or lower depending on what your mouse is holding.
