    Make Patriotic Kite Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Make a popsicle stick cross.

Take two large popsicle sticks. Put some glue on one stick and press it onto the middle of the other stick to make a cross shape. Let the glue dry completely.

Step 2: Draw your kite shape.

Put your popsicle stick cross on the white paper. Use your pencil to make a dot about one finger-width from the end of each popsicle stick. Connect these dots with your pencil to draw a kite shape. You can use another popsicle stick or a ruler to help you draw straight lines.

Step 3: Cut out your kite.

Carefully cut out the kite shape you drew. If you need help with scissors, ask a grown-up to help you.

Step 4: Decorate your kite with tissue paper.

Cut your tissue paper into small squares. Use your glue stick to put glue all over your kite. Stick the red, white, and blue tissue paper squares onto your kite. You can make a pattern or just put them wherever you like! After the glue dries a little, trim off any tissue paper that hangs over the edges of your kite.

Step 5: Add a yarn tail and washi tape bows.

Cut a piece of white yarn that is as long as your arm. This will be your kite's tail! Now, take your red and blue washi tape. Fold small pieces of tape in half to make little bows or flags. Trim the ends of the tape to make them look pretty. Stick these tape bows onto your yarn tail.

Step 6: Attach the yarn tail to your kite.

Use Elmer's glue to attach one end of your yarn tail to the very bottom of your kite. Let the glue dry well.

Step 7: Add a string to hold your kite.

Cut another piece of white yarn, about as long as your hand. Tie one end of this yarn to the left side of your kite and the other end to the right side, near the middle. This is the string you will hold to fly your kite!

Step 8: Glue your kite onto the popsicle stick cross.

Put Elmer's glue on the popsicle stick cross you made in step 1. Carefully place your decorated kite on top of the cross and press it down. Make sure the cross is in the middle of your kite. Let the glue dry completely before you play with your kite!
