    Make Pumpkin Memory Game

    Your creative buddy says:
"Let's stick together and make this one!"

Step 1: Trace circles onto orange paper.

Find something round, like a small juice glass, that is about 2 inches wide. Use your pencil to trace around it onto your orange construction paper. Try to fit as many circles as you can on the paper. You need at least 12 circles, but more circles will make the game more challenging and fun! If you want, you can also print the pumpkin shapes from the printable PDF directly onto orange paper instead of tracing.

Step 2: Cut out the circles.

    SHARP! Grown-up required
Carefully use your scissors to cut out each of the circles you traced or printed. Ask an adult for help if you need it with the scissors.

Step 3: Draw matching jack-o-lantern faces.

Now it's time to make your pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns! Use your black crayon to draw different jack-o-lantern faces on your pumpkin circles. Make sure to draw two of each face so you have matching pairs. For example, draw two pumpkins with triangle eyes and a zig-zag mouth, then two pumpkins with round eyes and a happy smile. Do not use a marker for this step, as the color might show through to the other side of the paper.

Step 4: Play the pumpkin memory game.

Place all your pumpkin game pieces face down on a table. Mix them up a little so you don't know where the matches are. Then, lay them out in neat rows and columns. The youngest player gets to go first, and then play moves around the group like the hands of a clock. On your turn, flip over two pumpkins. If they have the same jack-o-lantern face, you found a match! You get to keep the pair and flip over two more pumpkins. Keep flipping until you do not find a match. Then it's the next person's turn. Keep playing until all the pumpkins are gone. Everyone counts their pairs. The person with the most matching pumpkin pairs wins!
