Make Stuffed Thanksgiving Turkey Kids' Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"Let's stick together and make this one!"

Step 1: Cut the Turkey Body from Newspaper

Layer two pieces of newspaper. Use scissors to cut a large circle or oval shape, about 14 to 16 inches wide. This will be the body of your turkey.

Step 2: Trace and Cut Paper Body Parts

    May need grown-up help
Trace the turkey body shape onto brown construction paper. You can also draw it yourself! Then, cut out a yellow beak and a red wattle from scraps of construction paper. Remember to place the top of the beak on a fold so that the mouth opens.

    Step 3: Cut Out Feathers

    May need grown-up help
Cut out seven feathers. Make each feather a different color of construction paper.

Step 4: Glue the Face Pieces

Place the yellow beak, red wattle, and two large googly eyes onto the brown turkey body. Use a glue stick to glue them firmly into place.

Step 5: Stuff the Turkey Body

    SHARP! Grown-up required
Staple around the edge of the newspaper body, but leave a space open. Tear more strips of newspaper into small pieces and crumple them up. Push the crumpled newspaper into the opening until the body is full, but not too tight. Then, staple the opening shut. Tearing and crumpling paper is a fun way to make your hands strong! Ask a grown-up if you need help with the stapler!

Step 6: Add Feathers and Display

First, use your glue stick to attach the colorful feathers to the back of the stuffed newspaper body. Then, glue the brown turkey body (with the face) onto the front of the stuffed newspaper body. Now your stuffed turkey is ready to be displayed for Thanksgiving!
