About This Project

A 40–60 minutes craft for ages 3–10, using supplies you likely already have — Yarn, Scissors, and Contact Paper.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Ad-free and kid-safe library — designed by a mom who wants kids to explore and create independently.

    Make Suncatcher Paper Plate Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

    Step 1: Prep the Plate

    May need grown-up help
Ask an adult to help you cut a circle out of the center of a paper plate if needed. Paint the front of the plate (around the cut-out) and let it dry.

    Step 2: Attach Contact Paper

Cut a circular piece of clear contact paper slightly larger than the hole in the plate. Use the circle you cut from the plate as a size reference. Stick the contact paper to the back of the plate so the sticky side faces the painted side. Use tape to secure it, if you need to.

    Step 3: Create the Design

Cut yarn into different lengths. Press the yarn onto the sticky contact paper to create a design.

    Step 4: Paint the Glass

    May need grown-up help
Paint inside the spaces between the yarn. Let it dry completely.

    Step 5: Display and Enjoy

Hang the finished plate in a sunny window and watch it glow!
