About This Project

A 15–30 minutes craft for ages 6–10, using supplies you likely already have β€” Scissors, Cotton Balls, and Hot Glue.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

    Make Egg Carton Sheep

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Cut your egg carton

    SHARP! Grown-up required
Cut out one cup from an egg carton. This may require an adult with large, sharp scissors.

    Step 2: Cut legs

    SHARP! Grown-up required
Cut notches into the egg carton cup so that your sheep will have four legs

    Step 3: Trim

Trim the legs so that they are all the same length and your egg cup stands evenly on all four feet.

    Step 4: Color

    May need grown-up help
Color the legs and lower body of your sheep. The top will be covered by cotton ball, so you don't need to color all of it. We love Sharpie Creative Markers for our egg carton crafts, but any paint marker should work. You can also use paints.

    Step 5: Draw the face

Our egg carton flap had little half-oval bulges that we thought would give our sheep's face a nice shape, so we drew the face there. You could also use cardstock, construction paper, or the flat part of the egg carton lid.

    Step 6: Color and cut

Color your sheep's face and cut it out.

Step 7: Prep your cotton balls

Gently pull apart your cutton balls so that you can drape them over the egg carton cup. Our sheep used two cotton balls, but you can make your sheep as fluffy as you'd like.

Step 8: Glue on the wool

    HOT! Grown-up required
We used a low temp glue gun to attach the wool, but if you're patient, white glue or tacky glue would also work. Make sure to cover the surface of the egg carton well so that you get a good bond between the egg carton and glue.

    Step 9: Attach the head

    HOT! Grown-up required
    Glue on the head
