Become an author
Put a project where a user can find it this week. Kids only see it after a grown-up at GlueStick approves it.
Last updated October 31, 2026
You already know how to get kids creating. Becoming an author puts that project where a user can find it, gather the supplies, and make it this week — at home, in a classroom, or in a child-care program.
Kids only see a project after a grown-up at GlueStick approves it. A draft, a project waiting for review, and a project sent back to you stay off the library until that approval.
Where to find it
- Open GlueStick.
- Use Become an author in the footer, or scroll the homepage to Make something kids can do at home, just above the newsletter.
- The form is titled Start your author account.
Educators can open the For educators page. It starts with a note for classroom authors, then the same form.
If you are already an author, those pages take you to your author dashboard instead of asking you to sign up again.
Before you start
Use a grown-up profile. If you are on a child’s profile, GlueStick asks you to switch: Switch to a grown-up profile to become an author.
You confirm you are 18 or older, agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, and opt in to the GlueStick newsletter.
Complete the Verify you are human check so GlueStick knows a person is filling out the form.
You can add children to your household afterward, or skip that and add them later. You do not need a child on the account to become an author.
Your logo and bio wait until you have an author account and have signed the agreements. You add them on your author profile.
How to create your author account
- Enter your first name, last name, and email.
- Choose a password if you are not already signed in.
- Website name is optional. Families see it as your name. Leave it blank to use your first and last name. GlueStick creates your page address from the website name, or from your first and last name. You do not type it.
- Website URL is optional.
- Check I am 18 or older, the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, and the newsletter.
- Complete the Verify you are human check.
- Choose Create my author account.
If you are new to GlueStick, check your email and open the confirmation link. The note on the page says: Almost there! Check your email and click the confirmation link to finish creating your account.
After that, GlueStick asks about children in your household. Add a child if you want, or choose Add Children Later. You then open the licensing agreement.
Sign the agreement
The page is titled Licensing agreement. It shows the October 28, 2026 Activity Author Program Licensing Agreement.
- Open the agreement and read it.
- Check I have read and agree to the Activity Author Program Licensing Agreement.
- Type your full legal name.
- Read each other document on the page, including the content guidelines, and check I have read and accept for each one.
- Choose Sign and continue.
GlueStick emails you a copy of the agreement with your typed name. You can download that copy from this page. After you sign, the same copy is at the bottom of your author dashboard, under Your Author Agreement, along with the content guidelines and the Privacy Policy.
Submit your first project
Next you see Submit your first project, with the line Kids will not see it until GlueStick approves it.
Choose Start a project to open the project editor, or Go to the dashboard and come back when you are ready. The same prompt stays on your dashboard until you have a project.
When you send a project for review, GlueStick emails you. You get another email when it is approved, and another if it is sent back, including the note from the reviewer. Your public author page opens when a project of yours is approved. Until then, you are not listed with public authors, and kids cannot open the project.
If something goes wrong
Sign up failed. Please try again. Wait a moment, complete the human check again, and submit once more. If the check never finishes, refresh the page.
