Your GlueStick household

Families do not all look the same. Some kids split time between two homes. Some spend weekends at Grandma’s. Some craft with a nanny, a co-parent, or a whole pile of cousins. GlueStick is built so every family — no matter their structure — can let kids take their creativity with them.

That is what households and profiles are for.

Households and profiles

A household is the crafting home base for a group of people — usually a family, plus anyone you invite (a co-parent, nanny, or grandparent). Each household keeps its own supply cupboard, has its own subscription, and has its own settings.

A profile is a person in GlueStick. Grown-ups and children each have their own. A child’s profile holds their name, Creative Buddy, favorites, and finished projects wherever they craft.

Just like real families may be split across more than one place, a GlueStick profile can belong to more than one household. Favorites, projects, and the child’s profile stay with the child — whether they are crafting at home, at a co-parent’s house, or at Grandma’s. Grown-ups can celebrate those creations anywhere they are made.

Only the grown-up who created the child profile (the profile owner) can share it into another household. Other caregivers can ask to include that profile in a household they own.

Here is how that looks in real families:

The household profile

Every GlueStick household also has a Household profile. That is the default profile when a family opens GlueStick. It works a lot like a child profile — you can save favorites, finish projects, and unlock buddies — but it is meant for the times when more than one kid is making together.

It is a great fit when a grown-up wants to craft with children of very different ages, and nobody needs the project saved on just one kid’s profile.

Open Household settings

Most of the steps below start here:

1. Sign in as a grown-up.
2. Open the profile menu in the upper-right corner.
3. Choose Household Settings.

You will see Profiles in this household, with children and caregivers. If you belong to more than one household, use Switch Household (it asks Where are you making today?) so you are looking at the right home base.

Add a child profile

1. Open Household Settings.
2. Scroll to Profiles in this household.
3. Tap + Add child.
4. Enter a name or nickname (required).
5. Add birth month and year so GlueStick can recommend projects that fit as your child grows.
6. Read and agree to GlueStick’s child data privacy notice.
7. Tap + Add child.

Each household can include a limited number of child profiles (usually 8). The Household profile does not count toward that number. If your family needs more room, contact support.

Invite a caregiver

Invite a co-parent, grandparent, or babysitter so they can craft with your kids in this household.

1. Open Household Settings.
2. Scroll to Caregivers.
3. Enter their email and tap Invite caregiver.
4. GlueStick emails the invite and also gives you a shareable link you can paste into a text if you need to.

When they follow the link, they create (or sign in to) their own GlueStick account. They can also create a household of their own — that is how Grandma keeps a weekend cupboard at her place while still crafting at yours.

Invites last 7 days. From Household settings you can resend the email, make a new link (the old one stops working), or delete a pending invite.

Edit, unlink, or delete a child profile

1. Open Household Settings.
2. Find the child under Profiles in this household.
3. Use the pencil to edit, or the trash can to delete a child profile you own.

To help prevent accidents, GlueStick asks you to type the child’s name before a delete. Deletes are permanent.

You can only edit or delete profiles you own. If a profile was shared with you, you will see Unlink instead of delete. Unlink takes the child out of this household only — their profile, favorites, and other households stay put.

You cannot delete or unlink the profile that is active right now. Switch to someone else first.

Share a child’s profile with another household

Kids should not have to start over when they walk through a different front door. Sharing a profile lets the same child keep their favorites, projects, and Creative Buddy in more than one household.

Before you share

• Sign in as the grown-up who owns the child profile.
• Make sure you are in a household that already includes that child. Use Switch Household if you belong to more than one.
• The receiving household needs room for another child (usually up to 8). Reach out to support if you need more.

Open Share profile

1. Go to Household Settings.
2. Find the child under Profiles in this household.
3. Tap Share profile.

You can also open Share profile from the child’s profile page when you are signed in as the owner.

If you do not see Share profile, you are not the owner. Ask the owner to share it, or tap Request profile if you are a caregiver with a household of your own.

GlueStick asks: “Would you like to share [child]’s profile with another household?” Then you pick a way to share.

How we protect kids when you share

Sharing always asks you to confirm that an adult is present and to enter the account password. That is how we make sure a child’s profile is only shared with a grown-up’s permission.

Emails about sharing use household names — never the child’s name — so that extra detail about your kid is not sitting in an inbox.

Share with another caregiver’s household

Use this when you already belong to the other household — for example, a co-parent’s household you are also a member of.

1. Choose Share [child]’s profile with another caregiver’s household.
2. Confirm your password.
3. Pick the household from the list.
4. Tap Confirm share.

The child is linked right away. The owner of the receiving household gets an email. If the list is empty, you do not have another household you can share to yet. Invite a caregiver, join another household, or use email or QR sharing instead.

Email a profile

Use this when the other grown-up has (or will create) their own GlueStick household and you know their email.

1. Choose Share [child]’s profile with another household by email.
2. Confirm your password.
3. Enter the household owner’s email.
4. Tap Send share.

What happens next:

• They already have a GlueStick household — the child is added, and they get an email that a profile was added.
• They do not have a household yet — GlueStick sends an invitation. The share stays pending until they sign up and create a household; then the child is linked automatically.

You can cancel a pending email share from the child’s profile or from Household settings at any time.

Share via QR code

QR sharing works best when you are in the same room as the grown-up who owns the other household.

1. Choose Share [child]’s profile via QR code.
2. Confirm the parental consent notice and enter your account password.
3. Show the QR code on screen, or copy the share link.

QR codes are single-use and expire after about 15 minutes. Generate a new one if it expires or was already used.

On the receiving device:

1. Sign in to GlueStick (or create an account).
2. Open Household Settings.
3. Tap Add child from QR code.
4. Allow camera permission if asked, then scan the code — or open the share link and tap Link to my household.

The child is added to the household that is active on that device. You will get an email when your child’s profile is linked somewhere new.

If someone opens the share link before they sign in, they only see sign-in or sign-up. GlueStick does not show the child’s name to guests. After they sign in, they can finish linking.

Who is making today?

When you sit down to craft, tell GlueStick Who is making today? so favorites, stars, and finished projects land on the right person.

• Switching to a child or the Household profile does not ask for a password — kids should be able to start making without a grown-up unlocking every click.
• Switching to a grown-up’s profile does ask for the account password (GlueStick may skip this for a short time after you sign in). That keeps adult settings from being a tap away during kid craft time.

If a child belongs to more than one household, Where are you making today? asks for a grown-up’s email and password in the household you are switching to. That way a child cannot quietly move their profile into a different home without a caregiver there.

If you need to leave GlueStick

The household owner can request Delete Household from Household settings. You will be asked to cancel the subscription first, then confirm. That is separate from unlinking one person — it removes the household itself.
