About This Project

A 5–15 minutes craft for ages 6–12, using supplies you likely already have — Tape, Scissors, and Straws.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Ad-free and kid-safe library — designed by a mom who wants kids to explore and create independently.

    Make DIY Party Blower

    Your creative buddy says:
"Let's stick together and make this one!"

Step 1: Cut paper into a strip

Cut your paper into a long strip 2 inches wide. We cut ours using a paper cutter, but you can also use a ruler and scissors.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half

Fold the paper in half the long way, so it's like a very skinny hot dog bun.

Step 3: Fold each side to the middle

Fold one half in half again so that the edge touches the center line. Repeat on the other side.

    Step 4: Tape it shut

Tape the seam shut with one long piece of tape.

Step 5: Tape one end shut

Fold over one end and tape it down tightly. We want to make sure no air can escape out the end, or else our blower won't roll out when blown.

    Step 6: Roll it up

Starting at the folded end, roll up your blower tightly.

Step 7: (Optional) Wrap it up

For the best results, take a rubber band and secure it around the paper. Let it sit for at least an hour. This will help the blower hold its shape.

    Step 8: Insert the Straw

Insert the straw in the open end of the paper tube. Tape it in place.

    Step 9: Tape it again

It is also very important that as little air can escape out the top as possible. Add another layer of tape around the paper and the straw to make it as air-tight as possible.

    Step 10: Roll and blow!

Roll the paper up tightly, then give it a blow! It's time to celebrate!

    Step 11: Storing your blower

We know you'll want to keep your blower for a long time, and that's great! The best way to store it is to wrap it up tight and secure it with a rubber band. This helps it keep it's shape and prevents it from being ripped or torn.
