    Make Salt Painting Fireworks

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Draw fireworks with glue

On the black paper, squeeze or trace glue lines in a fireworks shape: 1) Start with a small dot or circle in the middle. 2) Pull curved lines out from the center like a burst. Add a few smaller bursts around the page if you want.

    Step 2: Cover in salt

    May need grown-up help
Place your artwork on a paper plate or in a large, shallow bowl. Sprinkle salt over all of the wet glue.

Step 3: Tap off extra salt

    May need grown-up help
Pick up your artwork and let all the extra salt fall off into a bowl or over the trash can. Let your artwork dry. This will probably take at least 1-2 hours.

    Step 4: Paint

    May need grown-up help
Paint the salt using watercolors. You can make each firework it's own color, or blend them together for a rainbow effect. Tip: if you're going to use warm colors and cool colors, grab two cups of water. After you use a warm color (red, orange, or yellow) rinse your paintbrush in the the first cup. If you use a cool color (green, blue, and purple), rinse your paintbrush in the second. This will keep your watercolors from all turning brown.
